New Payment Data Security Essentials video and infographics series aims to educate businesses on three critical security controls that can thwart the most common causes of data breaches
The bad news: Too many businesses are making it easy for criminals to steal payment data. The “low-hanging fruit” - weak passwords, outdated and unpatched software and insecure remote access - are still at the root of most data breaches happening today! Smaller businesses, without dedicated IT security staff, are especially vulnerable to hackers exploiting these weaknesses in their systems.
The good news: The majority of these breaches could be prevented with three essential payment data security controls.
The even better news: The PCI SSC has developed a new series of videos and infographics to help educate businesses on these leading risk areas and essential payment data security controls – available now, on the merchant resources section of the PCI SSC website. The new content also highlights resources available to help businesses work with their vendors and service providers to address these risk areas, including the Guide to Safe Payments, Questions to Ask your Vendors and Qualified Integrators and Resellers (QIR) list.
We’ll be featuring this content on our blog over the next few months, starting with REMOTE ACCESS in April, PASSWORDS in May and PATCHING in June. Join us in raising awareness around payment data security essentials by sharing these resources in your networks.
